Hider 2 is a clean and intuitive application for having a simple data vault on your computer. It was simple to maintain files or notes of moderate sensativity (I wouldn’t use this for anything that was extremelly sensitive), and the application does keep your data relatively secure. However, in my experience, you’re rolling the dice with your data when using Hider 2. I had a vault on my primary HD, as well as an external hard drive. But after a few days of use, when I ejected the external drive, the application crashed. When I reentered the drive, it seemed to get my vaults confused, and noted my external drive vault as my primary - furthermore, when it said there were now no files/notes in the external drive vault and my (actual) primary vault was nowhere to be found. A time machine restore did recover the vault files, but oddly Hider 2 showed they were empty.
In short, it was a great app when it worked, looked great and was easy to use. But when something went wrong, all my hidden data and notes were gone. So unforunately, I’m far too paranoid to try and use it for anything else again.
